Membership Surges at North Salem Golf Club

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Salem Golf Club has reported a sudden rise in membership since it opened for the 2012 season the first weekend in April.

Sixteen new members have joined, according to Pat Norton of On Course Strategies. Club general manager Todd Zorn linked the increase to the renovations.

Zorn said Salem Golf Club underwent a bunker renovation program in which it repaired and restored existing bunkers and added new ones. The same was done with the tees and fencing. The club also added six new cart paths.

A few prospective members signed up before the club opened this year, according to Zorn, but the real spike occurred when the club opened for business in 2012.

“Definitely there was a surge once everyone saw and took a look,” Zorn said.

Zorn said the club plans to renovate more bunkers and cart paths in the future. He said that the general maintenance of the course has been attractive to members and potential members.

“Word continues to spread that Salem Golf Club is a great home for golfers who appreciate a well-maintained course with lush fairways and manicured greens,” Zorn said in an On Course Strategies press release. “We have a tranquil setting occupying 165 acres of rolling landscape with magnificent vistas, and our members like the nature preserve atmosphere of our club.”
