LaJoie, 22, competes part time in the NASCAR K&N East Series, as well as in ARCA, according to The Sporting News.

NASCAR did not say Wednesday what LaJoie was penalized for doing, but he has received backlash for this tweet Oct. 15: “Is it stereotyping to ask TSA to cavity search the gentleman with a turban and a gray beard? I didn’t think so either.”

The tweet was deleted from LaJoie’s timeline; it elicited a handful on responses on Twitter telling LaJoie it was a stereotypical statement, according to The Sporting News.

Corey LaJoie is the son of Randy LaJoie, a Norwalk native who was a driver in the NASCAR Busch Series.
