Somers Boys Soccer Team Wins First State Championship

SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Somers High School boys soccer team captured its first state championship in the history of its program Sunday.

The Tuskers (20-2-2) won 2-1 in double overtime over Grand Island in the state final held at Middletown High School.

The winning goal was kicked in by sophomore Jon Riina with 3:11 left in the game, according to lohud.com.

First-year coach Brian Lanzetta is a Somers alum.
