Somers HS Girls Soccer Nets First State Title

SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Somers High School girls soccer team won the program's first-ever Class A state championship game 3-1 against Rockville Center South Side on Sunday, Nov. 16, according to LoHud. com.

Somers opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Hannon Eberts found the back of the net off of a Ciara Ostrander pass, LoHud.com reported. 

Melina Couzis and Melissa Righetti also scored for Somers who finished the season 22-0 and avenged a quadruple overtime loss to Rockville Center in the 2011 state championship game, LoHud.com said.
