SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. – Sunday’s Mother’s Day 10k in Norwalk had a special significance for South Salem runner Florence Chretien.

Chretien finished second in the women’s division just seven months after the birth of her daughter, Jacqueline. Chretien ran 39:41 and finished behind Wilton’s Mary Zengo, who won the race in 38:29.

“My training has been pretty good,’’ said Chretien, who has been working out at TargetTraining in Greenwich with Stamford trainer Megan Kelly. Chretien is getting good advice on balancing the fitness-motherhood dynamic from Kelly, who delivered triplets last summer and three months later, led Connecticut finishers in the U.S. Triathlon Age Group championships.

Chretien’s son, James, also attended Sunday’s race. Florence held Jacqueline afterwards and looked forward to her first Mother’s Day with her daughter.

“This is a special race since it’s Mother’s Day,’’ Chretien said. “I’m glad I was able to run it.”
