Westchester's Saniya Chong Makes WNBA Roster

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Saniya Chong's WNBA dreams are coming to fruition.

Chong, who graduated from Ossining High School, is one of 12 players on the roster of the Dallas Wings, who made final cuts Wednesday night. Chong was drafted 26th overall by the Wings last month.

The Wings season kicks off Sunday against Phoenix, while Chong returns home to face the New York Liberty on June 2.

At Ossining, Chong was the leading scorer in Section 1 basketball history with 2,988 points. While at Ossining, she was named the female basketball National Player of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association, an All-American by Parade Magazine and the Gatorade Athlete of the Year.

After Ossining, she went to UConn, where she won multiple national championships and was part of the team's 111-game winning streak. In her senior year at UConn, Chong averaged career highs in points, rebounds, assists and steals per game. She was 3rd team All-American Athletic Conference.
