Purdys Train Station Gets New Elevator, Accessibility Upgrades A Metro-North station in Northern Westchester is the latest to receive accessibility improvements, including an all-new elevator.  The improvements, which were made to the Purdys Metro-North Station in North Salem, were announced by the MTA on Thursday, Feb. 22.  The upgrades include a new elevator that travels between the station's parking lot and the Purdys Road (Route 116) overpass, as well as a new sidewalk compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act that leads from the elevator to the existing station entrance.  The station is the third in Westchester to receive …

Pair Of Bears Spotted Near North Salem Intersection: Here's Where Two black bears were seen together at an intersection in Northern Westchester, officials announced. The duo was seen by the intersection of Route 116 and Route 121 on Old Salem Center Road in North Salem, Supervisor Warren Lucas announced on Thursday, Oct. 12 around 4:15 p.m.  Authorities were notified about the animals, but Lucas said residents should have no cause for concern.  "The police are aware, please be aware. At this point they weren't bothering anyone," Lucas said.

Coyote Attacks 2 Local Residents On Walk In North Salem A town in the region is warning residents to be on the lookout for a rabid coyote after two residents were attacked while walking. The incident took place in Northern Westchester on Thursday, Nov. 17 shortly after 5 p.m. in North Salem on Turkey Hill Road. One person was bitten with a puncture wound on their leg.
