WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Motorists traveling through Westchester County may soon experience delays on Saw Mill River Parkway as road work continues in Pleasantville and Mount Pleasant.
The New York State Department of Transportation announced that construction activities will result in overnight closures of the parkway between exit 27 (Marble Avenue) and exit 30 (Grant Street) through Saturday, May 20. Work began on Monday, May 15.
The left lane in both the north and southbound lanes is expected to close at approximately 8 p.m. each evening. A full closure is reportedly then expected to begin at approximately 8:30 p.m., with the southbound lanes reopening at 6 a.m. the following morning, and the northbound lanes reopening an hour later.
Drivers have been cautioned to exercise extra precaution while traveling through the work zone and to pay additional attention to traffic control devices, signs and flaggers. The DOT reminds motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
