We all pray that this student recovers. I lost my son to this disease, and lost him because I didn't know that a vaccine was available that could have saved his life. In the meantime, it is important not to be scared, but to know what you can do to protect yourself. The CDC calls for routine vaccination for all 11-12 year olds, with a booster dose at ages 16-17. All students entering college should have been vaccinated within 5 years. It is also important to know the symptoms of meningitis, so that you can seek medical attention immediately. Please visit the National Meningitis Association for more information. View Comment
