Air Quality Alert In Effect As Suddenly Summery Temps Hit North Salem

The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for Westchester and Rockland counties as the region gets its first real taste of summer this week.

Elevated ozone levels on Wednesday could make strenuous outdoor activity dangerous for those with respiratory ailments or heart disease. The alert will be in effect until 11 p.m. 

Temperatures will reach into the high 80s on Wednesday with abundant sunshine. 

Expect more sunshine and temperatures in the 80s on Thursday and Friday as well. 

Sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s will continue through Saturday and Sunday. 

Showers could move through the area on Memorial Day with highs in the mid-70s. Chance of rain is 30 percent.
