North Salem Could See 6 Inches Or More Of Snowfall In Latest Storm

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The good news is the latest storm set to hit Westchester on Tuesday is a quick-moving system, and, by the end of this week, temperatures should hit the 50-degree mark.

Now, the bad news. Projected snowfall totals have increased.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for 4 a.m. Tuesday until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Snow should begin sometime before daybreak Tuesday and become heavy at times during the morning before tapering off Tuesday afternoon.

Most of Westchester County is now expected to receive between 3 and 5 inches of snowfall accumulation, with lesser amounts near the coast, according to the National Weather Service. Parts of Northern Westchester may receive 6 inches or more.

Temperatures should continue to climb Tuesday afternoon, to a high between 38 and 40 degrees, signaling the start of a welcomed warming trend.

The outlook for Wednesday calls for a chance of rain and snow showers before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain showers with a high between 45 and 47 degrees.

By Friday, the temperature could reach or surpass 50 degrees.
