Wintry Christmas Eve Weather Forecast For Westchester

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. ? It could be a white, or slushy, Christmas. The National Weather Service is predicting a wintry mix beginning Monday evening, with snow accumulations of up to 1 inch and a trace amounts of ice caused by freezing rain or sleet.

"Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities," reads the winter weather advisory, which predicts "very slippery conditions on untreated surfaces" and urges "caution while driving."

The advisory for the lower Hudson Valley begins at 7 p.m. Monday and runs through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Although the prediction for Christmas Day is clear, wintry weather is also forecast for Wednesday, Dec. 26. The Weather Service predicts a 70 percent chance of sleet and snow Wednesday, increasing to 90 percent Wednesday evening.
