The weekend kicks off with the “Cooks & Books” party on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. You can have first dibs on purchases from this year’s Book Sale while you enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres prepared by some of North Salem’s finest cooks. Tickets are $50 per person.
Saturday starts with the annual Bike Ride around the Titicus Reservoir, from 8 to 10 a.m. The roads will be closed to auto traffic. Cyclists must be on the road before 8:20 a.m. because police will reopen the roads at 10 a.m. Cyclists are invited to cool off and enjoy a pancake breakfast at the library afterwards.
The sale of thousands of donated books begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday and will continue all day, until 5 p.m. Baked goods, fresh flowers and plants, barbecued franks and burgers and sundrie other refreshments will be on sale throughout the day. Local musicians will provide background entertainment as you browse the books, enjoy the food and learn about bee-keeping, chicken-raising and other avocations. There will be games and entertainment for the children as well.
The fair concludes on Sunday, with all books on sale at half-price from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Proceeds from the annual Book Fair help support the library and all of its activities. In addition, tickets for the fundraising June Raffle will be sold at the fair, priced at $5 each or five tickets for $20. Prizes include a $500 Visa gift card, tickets to Broadway’s “Wicked,” cooking equipment, toys and much more.
The Library Fair will be held rain or shine. The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is at 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
