The cyclists coursed their way over roads in northern Connecticut for the Sept. 23-25 event. The bike ride raised money for Friends of Karen, an organization in North Salem that helps kids and their families with cancer.
Though grueling at time, the scenic ride was "energizing," said Alan Dubow.
"Why do I ride in the ‘Journey of the Heart? The answer is simple. The smiling faces of the children and their families which show their appreciation for the assistance they receive from Friends of Karen during life’s most harrowing experience," Dubow said. "With every ounce of energy expended and every dollar raised, I know our efforts are truly appreciated. I love this event, the spirit of our group and most of all, the families we are helping.”
Other participants include Friends of Karen volunteers and staff, along with Friends of Karen family members. The event raised $150,000, said the release.
Friends of Karen provides emotional, financial and advocacy support for children with a life-threatening illness and their families.
