NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Picking pumpkins and blessing animals are among this weekend’s events in the North Salem area.

Friday, Oct. 5

Ambulance Corps Tag Sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find a bargain and support a good cause at the annual North Salem Ambulance Corps Tag Sale. The sale takes place at 14 Daniel Road, North Salem. 

Saturday, Oct. 6

Fall Festival at Harvest Moon: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hayrides, face painting, cider doughnuts, a pumpkin patch, apple picking and live music are a few of the highlights of the Harvest Moon Fall Festival. Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard is at 130 Hardscrabble Road, North Salem.

Sunday, Oct. 7

Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans are available. The Muscoot Farmers Market will continue every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Blessing of the Animals: 10:30 a.m. All animals great and small, as well as their human caregivers, are invited to be blessed in a joyful Sunday service at St. James Episcopal Church, June Road and Titicus Road, North Salem. 

Pumpkin Pickin’ at Muscoot: noon to 3 p.m. Take a hayride to the pumpkin field and find the perfect pumpkin to take home. The fee for the hayride is $2 per person; pumpkin prices vary according to size. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Walking Tour of the Famous and Historic Tree Trail: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Lasdon Park horticulturist will take visitors on a tour of historic trees. Lasdon Park, Arboretum, and Veterans Memorial is located on Route 35 in Somers.

Monday, Oct. 8

Closures: Schools, libraries and government offices are closed in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.
