A 22-year-old man already facing life in prison for his role in a 12-hour crime spree last year in Westchester has pleaded guilty to attempted murder following shooting incidents in Mount Vernon and Yonkers.

Mount Vernon resident Allen Copeland has pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, both violent felonies, for his role into two incidents that took place last year, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday.

Copeland pleaded guilty to his role in a Yonkers shooting on May 20 last year and a Mount Vernon shooting the following day. Scarpino noted that the guilty pleas were entered as the trial for the Yonkers shooting was scheduled to begin. Both instances were street disputes, he added.

In addition to his guilty plea, Copeland is also facing life in prison if he is convicted on a 50-count indictment dating back to a 12-hour crime spree in Westchester last year, which led to the fatal shooting of Trevon Boswell.

Following his guilty plea, Copeland is scheduled to be sentenced on July 17, when he will face up to 25 years in prison on the attempted murder charge and 15 years on the weapons charge. He faces 25 years to life for the crime spree, which is still pending.
