In two separate lawsuits filed recently as the Feb. 3 first anniversary approaches, families of Joseph Nadol, 42 and Robert Dirks, 36, are seeking unspecified damages from Metro-North, Westchester County and Mount Pleasant, among others, reported lohud.com. The crash killed six people, including the SUV driver.

Nadol and Dirks each lived in parts of the town of New Castle. Specifically Dirks lived in Chappaqua while Nadol lived in the West End.

The lawsuits, filed this week in state Supreme Court in Westchester County, blame dangerous conditions at the Commerce Street rail crossing, along with the train's engineer, for the deadly crash, lohud.com reported.
