Original story: DANBURY, Conn. -- A tractor-trailer fire on westbound I-84 just over the New York border has halted traffic in the Danbury area on Thursday morning, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The highway was closed at Exit 1 in Danbury to divert traffic onto Route 6 at about 6 a.m., but one lane had reportedly opened by about 7 a.m., the DOT said.

Traffic jams were reported back to Exit 3 on I-84, with delays on many local Danbury streets, especially near Exit 2 and along Route 6, as drivers began to seek alternate routes, the DOT reported.
