White Plains resident Eric Jackier, 48, has pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny in relation to a case in Rye Brook and third-degree grand larceny regarding a case in White Plains in Westchester County Court on Thursday.
In White Plains, Jackier admitted to stealing $16,475 from a White Plains woman that was earmarked to set up a charity. Instead, Jackier used the money for his own uses between May 15, 2015 and Aug. 20 that year.
Jackier further admitted to stealing $167,000 in checks from an elderly Rye Brook woman, claiming to be an expert who could help secure veteran’s benefits. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. said that Jackier used a title of “non-attorney representative” and claimed that he could handle Veteran and Social Security cases.
Scarpino said that the woman was attempting to seek help for her elderly husband. Those thefts came over the course of several years, from Aug. 1, 2013 through Oct. 4 last year. Rye Brook police investigators made the arrest earlier this year.
Jackier is scheduled to be sentenced on March 9, 2019, when he will face prison time.
