Friday, May 11
Library Fair Preview Party: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Some of North Salems best cooks will provide hors doeuvres for the Ruth Keelers annual book fair preview party. Saturday, May 12
Bike Tour Around Titicus Reservoir: 8 to 10 a.m. Cyclists will gather at the Ruth Keeler to take a group ride around the reservoir and end at the the library for a pancake breakfast. Everyone is welcome. The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is located at 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
Early bird special at the book sale: 9 to 10 a.m. If you want your pick of the crop at the Ruth Keelers annual book sale, get in early. Heirloom Plants at the book fair: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Perennials and shrubs from local gardeners, plus herbs, annuals, houseplants and heirloom tomatoes will be available. Fresh flower bouquets will be arranged in Keeler Homestead milk bottles, compliments of the North Salem Historical Society. Northern Exposure Photography Club: 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The monthly meeting of the club will be held at the Van Tassel House, 98 Primrose St., Somers. Mike Lubchenko will give a lecture on depth-of-field. Bring your camera.
Childrens Expo & Public Safety Day: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This seventh annual event will provide opportunities for car seat checks, fire engine tours, emergency center tours and access to a New York State Safe Child card, with your childs fingerprints and photo. There will be food, games, live music and entertainment as well. The event is sponsored by the Child Advocacy Center and the Bureau of Emergency Services of Putnam County. It takes place at the Donald B. Smith Campus, 112 Old Route 6, Carmel.
Sunday, May 13
Muscoot Farmers' Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Its opening day for the popular farmers' market. Admire and purchase the products of local farmers while you enjoy a day at the farm. There will be fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and baked goods. The market will be open every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.
Sheep Shearing: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Celebrate Mother's Day with a trip to Muscoot to watch the sheep get their springtime haircuts. There is no charge. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Mothers Day Brunch at the Hammond: 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Let Silk Garden do the catering for moms special day. Its an unlimited champagne brunch, with fresh bakery products, all types of egg dishes, Belgian waffles, assorted meats, fish and vegetables, a pasta bar and desserts. The price is $42 per adult, $20 for children under 10. Children under 3 are free. There are two seatings and reservations are required. The Hammond Museum is located at 28 Deveau Road, North Salem.
