A witness reported seeing the motorcycle enter the ramp to the highway, then to lose control of the bike, said New York State Trooper Thomas Libretti. As the motorcycle began to slide, the biker was ejected and hit the guard rail.

The victim received a major head wound and was bleeding profusely. Police closed the road to traffic while the accident was investigated and emergency volunteers administered CPR. The North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the victim to Putnam County Hospital, where it was determined that he had succumbed to severe head trauma.

It was wearing a collar with an Ocala, Florida dog license and a current rabies tag. The parking attendant was satisfied and chose not to pursue the matter.
