Kent Police Arrest Man, 45, Accused Of Trespassing Inside Home

KENT, N.Y. – A 45-year-old man is facing a host of criminal charges after a brief standoff during which he refused to leave a home that was not his.

According to police, Andrew Hickey was found inside the Sedge Wood Club home about 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday after the home’s burglar alarm was triggered, drawing officers to the scene.

Hickey, who initially refused to identify himself, would not come out of the home, forcing Kent police to call upon New York State Police, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Carmel police for assistance.

According to authorities, officers were able to enter the home and “subdue Hickey,” who was then taken into custody.

Hickey was arraigned in Kent Town Court, where he was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass, false impersonation, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest., according to police.

The 45-year-old was then taken to the Putnam County jail, where he was held on $50,000 cash bail or bond, police said.
