North Salem Man Damages Two Vehicles During Domestic Dispute, Police Say

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A North Salem man is facing felony charges after a domestic dispute turned ugly when he violated an order of protection his victim had against him, state police said.

State Police said they arrested Matthew Hagan, 29, and charged him on a three-count indictment that includes multiple felony charges.

According to police, shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, troopers were dispatched to a Peach Lake Drive home in North Salem, where a man was allegedly causing a scene outside of the home. During the subsequent investigation, the reported victim alleged that Hagan had damaged two vehicles parked in front of the house during the incident.

Hagan was arrested at the scene and charged with felony counts of criminal contempt - for violating a court order of protection banning him from having contact with his victim - and fourth-degree criminal mischief, police said. He was additionally charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief. He was arraigned in Town of North Salem Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
