Officers responded to a Rectory Lane residence on Sept. 6, where there was a report of an attempted larceny from a car parked in the driveway at approximately 1:30 a.m. that morning.

Police said that the homeowner received an email from a neighbor who resides on Carstensen Road, who warned that she had observed a person going through her vehicle in the middle of the night.

The homeowner proceeded to check her surveillance cameras, which revealed that shortly before 1:30 a.m., a light-skinned man wearing a jacket, jeans, a mask and gloves walked up to the car with a small flashlight and opened the driver’s side door of a 2016 Cadillac. The man spent several minutes going through the vehicle but no items were reported missing.

Police said that the suspect then went to a second vehicle in the driveway and attempted to open it, but the door was locked. The suspect then fled east on Rectory Lane and into a second driveway. There was another attempted larceny from a vehicle approximately an hour later on Carstensen Road.

The incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the attempted larcenies can contact investigators at Scarsdale Police Headquarters by calling (914) 722-1200.
