Police discovered Robin Murphy's underwear in a suitcase belonging to Howard Gombert Jr. when he was arrested five years later on an unrelated sexual assault charge, lohud.com said.

The new evidence came to light due to a new motion filed by the lawyer of Anthony DiPippo, who was charged with the murder and rape of another teenage girl in 1996, reported lohud.com.

Gombert, who is serving 30 years in prison on the unrelated charge, allegedly told another inmate that he killed the girl and that Murphy would never be found, lohud.com noted.
