Yorktown Man Stole, Forged Family Members' Checks, Say Police

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 31-year-old resident of Yorktown Heights on larceny and forgery charges stemming from a case that began more than a month ago, authorities said.

During the incident, originally reported June 28, an officer was dispatched to investigate the report of a number of checks that had been stolen and cashed in the amount of $400, according to officials.

The case was later assigned to the Detective Bureau, police said.

Following an extensive investigation, the suspect, identified as Jesse Suggs, was accused of stealing the checks from a family member, and forging the family member’s name on numerous checks, which were then cashed, police report.

Suggs voluntarily appeared at Yorktown Police Headquarters and was placed under arrest on Tuesday, July 26, police report.

He has been charged with petty larceny and forgery in the third degree, both class A misdemeanors, according to officials.

Following processing, Suggs was released without bail, police report.

He is due to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Tuesday, Sept. 20, according to officials.
