NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- North Salem High School was named the 36th best public high school in New York and the 236th best in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

North Salem High School was awarded a gold medal in the magazine's annual ranking of the best high schools. North Salem students scored an 58.2 on the magazine's college readiness index, which is based on advanced placement exam participation rates and the percentage of students passing at least one exam.

?One hundred percent of students were proficient in math and English.
