NORTH SALEM, N.Y. As the 2011-12 school year wound down, 58 fourth- and fifth- graders from Pequenakonck Elementary School took a field trip to Lake Compounce in Bristol, Conn. to sing at the annual High Notes Music Festival.
Competing student choruses were judged on tone production, intonation, diction, technique, interpretation, balance and musical repertoire. That may seem like a lot to ask of nine- and ten-year-olds, but the PQ students received a score of Superior. This is the third year that the PQ Chorus has participated at the High Notes Music Festival. Their trophy is on display at the elementary school on June Road.
